Introductory Workshop
or completion of the Online Course

This is a very hands on course that will cover all aspects of moving and handling pigs, inspecting and assessing health and well-being, carrying out vaccinations, health treatments and elective husbandry procedures.

You will also learn how to keep accurate records of inspection and assessment of pigs. Learning to assess the health, weight and marketability of your pigs is critical to your business success.

This course will also focus on the welfare needs of free range pigs and how best to manage a herd in a free range environment.

You will also learn how to humanely destroy a pig.

When combined with the introductory workshop or the Online Course, this advanced course will provide you with the on the job training you need to meet requirements for a qualified stockperson for people that already own and operate a piggery.

This course will be presented as the units of competency specified in new legislation and will be able to be used as evidence of prior learning should you wish to convert your course to accredited training at a later date.

If you wish to receive s certificate for this course you must complete and pass all assessments.  You can of course just opt to attend the day without being examined but you will not receive a certificate.

You will be assessed as per the performance criteria and  the evidence guide of the relevant units of competency.  This means that both written and hands on assessments will need to be completed to be deemed competent and to receive your certificate.
